Thank you note received from the Food Bank.

The Flames gave free admission at one of our games earlier this year in return for donations to
the food bank.  Look for it to happen again before Christmas,  and lets try to fill the Barn for this good cause.

Thanks to the generosity of our Fans the Flames collected 650 pounds of food plus $146.00 cash for the Food Bank.  The Flames raffled off a signed Flames jersey, a signed Brendan Morrison Jersey and two pairs of hockey tickets to the World Junior Hockey Tournament (donated by Jim Coulter of the News) in exchange for donations.

Basic's for Babies

On Friday, December 2nd the Flames teamed up with JRFM 93.7 to support Basic's for Babies.  Fan's were encouraged to bring in baby food, formula, pabulum, diapers and cash for infants in need in our community.  All fans that brought in an item were given a raffle ticket to win a signed Brendan Morrison Canucks Vintage Replica Home Jersey or an official flames jacket.  Thanks to our the generosity of our fans,  we were able to collect 200 pounds of food and $200.00 cash.

Mexican Migrant Workers

When the plight of the Mexican Migrant workers was discovered the Owners of the  Flames showed their class by arranging for 20 members of this group be treated to dinner at one
of our very generous sponsors,
Habanero's Quick Service Grill, and were then entertained royally  at a Flames Game.  After the game they came on the ice for a group photo shown above.

I don't remember if the Flames won or lost but the smiles on the migrants faces was enough
to make the evening a complete success.

RIDGE MEADOWS FLAMES ANNUAL TEDDY BEAR TOSS!

Held at Planet Ice Friday, December 8th, 2006

Lorraine Bates, the co-chair for the MR/PM Christmas Hamper Society came out for the toss and brought along her granddaughter Brianna and son-in-law Ray Arsenault to help collect cash donations for the Coins for Kids Fundraiser.  At the end of the night a whopping 82 teddy bears and $84.02 in cash was raised.  What I thought was really cool, is that a lot of people brought in multiple teddy bears such as Mrs. Sheard and my parents.  Everyone made me feel very proud, that together we’re all doing better for our community!  Thanks again to everyone who participated in our fundraiser!

I would like to thank our three volunteers from the Maple Ridge Figure Skating Club for sticking around to the very end of the game to help pick up these cute little critters.  Our volunteers were as follows:  Larisa Franklin, Jianna Ballard and Sara Mason.  Thank you again girls, as I heard you had an early morning practice back down at the rink on Saturday.
